Wanna Thug It Out Bitch? Let's Thug It Out.

Last week, I gave out a very prestigious and regal award to the RIAA. This week it's time to give some props to the bastard child or the ugly sister of the entertainment industry, the MPAA. The Motion Picture Association Of America has been around a while now and it's made some choice decisions in the way that it does business. Before I get on with the normal award ceremony I think we should take a look at what the MPAA really is.

According to Wikipedia:
The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), originally called the Motion Pictures Producers and Distributors Association, is a non-profit trade association based in the United States which was formed to advance the interests of movie studios. Its members consist of the so-called "big seven" major Hollywood studios: Buena Vista (Walt Disney Company), Sony Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (part of the Sony/Comcast joint venture), Paramount Pictures (Viacom), 20th Century Fox (News Corp.), DreamWorks, Universal Studios (NBC Universal), and Warner Bros. (Time Warner) The organization produces the well-known voluntary film rating system.

So, the MPAA is just a group of competitive business watching out for each other. That's understandable I suppose. I mean think about what would happen if this organization didn't exist. The Hollywood studios would be in constant competition with each other over little things. They themselves would have people planted in rival businesses trying to leak their blockbuster movies to the masses. Basically doing what the internet "pirates" are doing now, but they'd being doing it with malice.

I really don't have an award to give to them this week since they really haven't done anything recently to earn any kind of awards and that does include the releases of every movie made over the past 3-4 years with the exception of a select few.

Nope, this week I just have a memo. It's a memo from years ago to the MPAA from one of the creators of South Park Matt Stone. I think it basically speaks for itself.
