The Morning After
Welcome to the year 2000. I woke up to check the election coverage. Let's see I'll check CNN. Ok Bush=254 Kerry=252. Alright not bad, Kerry can still turn this around.Hmm, now over on Fox News Bush=269 Kerry=242. What the fuck? Wait, aren't we in the year 2004? Leave it up to Ohio to become the Florida of this election. God Dammit.
In other election news, my dad won his election, well, he was unopposed so it really wasn't much of a contest. He did manage to get 1043 votes though. My Uncle Bob also ended up winning his election over Sholtz by 34 votes. He ended up only taking 2 Townships, but he still won the election.
One thing that really pissed me off is that both proposals went through. I really don't care about the gambling one, it's just gonna make more work and give a monopoly to the Native American run casinos. The one that I'm really concerned with is Prop. 2. There was no need to make it a constitutional amendment, but I'm sure the religous right got the church vote out to pass this thing.
For a country that's been built on the idea of freedom, we seem to want to enforce our own ideals on everyone else in the world, while taking away our own freedoms.
On another note, if anybody comes right out and tells me they voted for Bush, I want to see their enlistment papers. They brought it upon themselves, they should be willing to go and fight because that's obviously what they wanted. I also predict gas prices will probably reach somewhere around $3.00 because the price of oil has never really went down in the past few years and it's probably only gonna get higher.
